Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Last updated: 19 July 2026

Bonkr respects your privacy. This policy describes Bonkr's current information-handling practices; it is not a legal certification.
1. Information We Collect

Personal Information You Provide:

  • Account Information: Email address, username, password, display name, date of birth (for account eligibility and adult-access controls)

  • Listing Content: Text descriptions, photos, videos, pricing, service details, availability
  • Communications: Messages sent through our platform, support inquiries, feedback

  • Usage Data: Pages viewed, listings browsed, search queries, time spent on site, click patterns
  • Location Data: Approximate location based on IP address (precise location only with your permission)
  • Cookies and Tracking: Session cookies, preference cookies, analytics cookies (see Cookie Policy)

Information from Third Parties:

  • Service providers used for hosting, authentication, email delivery, security, and support
  • Information supplied by another user in a report or safety complaint

3. How We Share Your Information

Public Information:

Content you choose to make public (listings, profile information, photos) is visible to all users and may be indexed by search engines. Exercise caution when deciding what to share publicly.

We Share Information With:

  • Other Users: When you send messages, respond to listings, or interact on the platform
  • Service Providers: Hosting providers, email services, analytics platforms, and moderation services (under confidentiality agreements)
  • Legal Authorities: When required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified)

We Do NOT:

  • Sell your personal information to third parties
  • Make private messages or verification documents public
  • Collect card details or process platform subscriptions at this time

Authorised moderators and service providers may access the minimum information needed to operate Bonkr, investigate a report, protect users, prevent fraud, review verification material, enforce the rules, or comply with law. A message included in a report may be reviewed for that purpose.

4. Data Security and Protection

Bonkr uses technical and organisational controls that currently include HTTPS for data in transit, authenticated access, database access policies, restricted administrative access, private or signed media access where implemented, and audit records for sensitive administrator actions. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Bonkr reviews and updates controls as the service changes.

You are responsible for protecting your password and account credentials.

5. Data Retention

Retention periods vary by information category. Bonkr retains personal information while it is needed to provide the service, prevent fraud and safety harms, resolve disputes, preserve required evidence, or meet legal obligations. When information is no longer needed and no legal or preservation requirement applies, Bonkr deletes or de-identifies it. Deletion from backups and service-provider systems follows the relevant documented rotation process.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Marketing: Opt out of direct marketing
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for optional data processing
  • Complain: Make a privacy complaint to Bonkr and, where eligible, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)

You may also ask for deletion, but deletion is not an unconditional Australian privacy right and may be refused or delayed where information must be retained for safety, disputes, evidence preservation, or law. Bonkr will explain the outcome and any reason it cannot fully complete a request.

Contact privacy@bonkr.com.au or select Privacy Access or Correction Request or Privacy Complaint on the contact form. Bonkr records the request with a reference and aims to respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience:

These third parties have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices and recommend reviewing their policies before providing your information.

9. Children's Privacy

If Bonkr has reason to believe an account is operated by a person under 18, it may restrict access while it investigates. Content or accounts may be removed or disabled where appropriate. Bonkr may retain the minimum records needed for safety, fraud prevention, a dispute, evidence preservation, or legal obligations. Report a concern through the reporting control or safety@bonkr.com.au.

10. International Data Transfers

Bonkr uses online service providers that may process information outside Australia. Provider functions, data locations, subprocessors, and likely recipient countries are reviewed as the service inventory changes. Contact privacy@bonkr.com.au for current information relevant to your request.
